The Arecibo radio telescope

The Arecibo radio telescope is situated approximately 15 km from Arecibo in the island of Puerto Rico. It is the  second largest single-aperture telescope that has ever been built. In fact it has a 305 metre wide antenna, and for this reason it has been built inside a natural cavity. Credits: Cornell University, NSF, NASA
