In 1665, while examining a thin slice of cork, Robert Hooke discovered the cell. Cells are the building blocks that make up multicellular organisms  and are highly complex entities. In fact, inside cells there are a great many structures visible with an electron microscope. These structures carry out specific biological and biochemical activities that make the cell a living “workshop” organised with incredible perfection.
