The Alpine region includes 1800 kilometres of mountains and valleys, covering a total of 191,000 square kilometres. 5,934 cities, with a population of over 13 million (4 and a half million in Italy), are on the Alps (1,764 in Italy). The largest Alpine city is Grenoble, with a population of 415,000, followed by Innsbruck (250,000), Bolzano and Trento, with a population of 200,000, and finally Klagenfurt, with a population of 150,000.
