Why the old ladies?
Thomas Huxley (1825-1895), a famous English biologist, tried to explain the complexity of natural processes in an original way, and tried to clarify that they are often due to apparently unrelated phenomena. At this regard, he said that the quantity of milk produced in England depends on the number of old ladies. He explained it in this way: “Everybody knows that many old ladies take care of wild cats, that eat mice. The latter love insects that are useful for the growth of medical herbs, that help cows to produce a lot of milk”.
Therefore: the more old ladies, the more cats, the fewer mice, the more insects, the more medical herbs, the more milk.
