Energy from palm trees
Oils that are obtained from palm trees can be used as alternatives to fossil fuels and their use is about to be taken into consideration by some Third World Countries. In fact, the babassu palms that grow in America and the nipa palms that grow in Asia, are considered potential sources of energy that can be exploited as alternatives to fossil fuels. Some researchers believe that cultivation of 2 billion hectares of land in the tropics would provide 25 barrels of fuel oil per hectare.
