Ötzi's anniversary

On 19 September 1991, a German couple found a mummy while they were hiking on the Giogo di Tisa Ridge, above the Niederjoch Glacier (3210 metres above sea level) in the Schnals (Senales) Valley. From that day the ice mummy, known as Ötzi, thanks to the title used by the Viennese journalist Karl Wendl, has become really famous. Today we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ötzi's discovery and, to mark the occasion, festivities will be held right on the location of the discovery on the Giogo di Tisa Ridge. The celebrations are an initiative of the Schnals Valley and are organised together with the Ötztal Tourism Board.
