Wind
Advantages of the wind
Wind is inexhaustible, cheap, largely distributed, and it is a renewable source that does not produce any polluting emission. Therefore, especially as regards the production of electric energy, its greater dissemination may contribute remarkably to the reduction of the emissions of “greenhouse gases”.
Moreover, differently from solar and geothermal energy, wind energy is mechanically available and therefore can be easily transformed into electricity.
Wind generators, moreover, do not produce any radioactive or chemical impact as they are only made of plastic and metallic materials.
It is also necessary to consider that the energy produced by a wind turbine during its average life (around 20 years for on-shore installations and more than 25 years for off-shore installations) is around 80 times as much as the energy needed for its building, maintenance, exercise, dismantling and scrapping. It was calculated that two or three months are sufficient to an aerogenerator to recover all the energy used to build it and keep it working.
