Wind power production in Italy
Electricity production from wind power increased over tenfold from 2003 to 2016, going from 1,458 GWh to 17,689 GWh; in 2016, in particular, there was a very significant increase in production (2,845 GWh, 19.2% more than in 2015). With 4,787 GWh of electricity generated, Puglia leads the regional wind power production table, followed by Sicily (3,058 GWh) and Campania (2,562 GWh). These three regions together cover 58.9% of the national total. With the exception of the Trentino Alto Adige and Veneto regions, in 2016 there was an increase in wind power production in all Italian regions compared to the previous year.
