Venus is the brightest body in the sky after the Moon. A small European probe, the Venus Express, is orbiting Earth’s twin planet and is sending back a lot of useful information mainly regarding its dense and complex atmosphere. Venus’s clouds prevent the heat from the surface from escaping into space and create the strongest greenhouse effect of the Solar System with temperatures that reach scorching peaks of 450°C at ground level.
