Tundra

The tundra is a temperate cold area near the Polar circle. The climate is characterized by dark, long winters with rigid temperatures, and short and very sunny summers. There aren’t many species of living beings, there are lichens and mosses on the rocks and there are no trees. An interesting characteristic of this biome is the presence of frozen soil under the surface of the ground,  known as permafrost.
