Tropical fruits

Pineapples are native to Central and South America. Christopher Columbus discovered them in Guadeloupe and gave them as presents to Queen Isabel of Spain. The pineapple plant is about 1 metre tall and holds its fruit grouped together around the stalk. Each fruit can weigh between half a kilo to five kilos.
