Streptococcus in the blood

The name streptococcus  indicates a genus of spherical gram-positive bacteria , cocci, that usually grow in pairs. They are facultative anaerobes with a preference for anaerobiosis. They are able to produce toxic  substances, toxins, one of which, streptolysin, can destroy red blood cells.
