Stegosaurus

The Stegosaurus was a large herbivorous dinosaur that lived in the Late Jurassic era. It had a small, narrow head and its brain must not have been bigger than a walnut.
One of its distinctive features was the double row of bony plates running down its back. There are different hypotheses regarding the possible function of these plates. Some paleontologists support the theory that they were instruments of thermoregulation. Another hypothesis states that, thanks to the blood vessels that ran through the plates, the dinosaur could change their colour and communicate with its fellow creatures. The long spikes on its tail were another distinctive characteristic of the Stegosaurus; they were used to hit predators.
