Sandy desert

The winds are important to shape the landscape; their erosive effect is due, above all, to the sand they carry, which acts as an abrasive. There can be sandstorms in the desert which can last up to thirty days a year, cover a range of 200 km and even more and carry huge amounts of dust. With the rains, these materials can fall as far as the UK.
