Oil, the world top 10 importers (2018)
The graph shows the top 10 countries that import crude oil and non-conventional oil and the total imports in the rest of the world in 2018. As can be seen from the graph, Italy is in eighth place. In fact, while Italy does not have significant reserves of hydrocarbons, it has a petroleum production (equal to 100 thousand barrels/day) which covers only 7.8% of domestic consumption, equal to 1,271 thousand barrels a day. Italy, therefore, must import 92.2% of the oil it consumes. Total crude oil and non-conventional oil imports in the world were around 46,9 million barrels a day.
