Main oil consuming countries: ranking by per capita consumption (2016)
In 2016, the USA, China, Japan, India, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, South Korea, Germany and Canada, were the top 10 oil consuming countries (see chart World top 10 oil consumers in 2016). This chart shows per capita consumption in the main oil consuming countries listed above. This highlights the disparity in consumption between countries. China, for example, is the second largest oil consumer with 11.9 million barrerls/day, while in the per capita consumption ranking it is in ninth place, with 3.1 barrerls in a year, almost 12 times less per capita consumption than Saudi Arabia.
