An offshore wind energy project in the Adriatic Sea
At the “Fiera del Levante in Bari” (Bari Trade Fair) the Powered Project, acronym of Project of Offshore Wind Energy: Research, Experimentation, Development, was presented. The purpose of this project is to study wind energy potential in the Adriatic Sea and to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of installing offshore turbines, identifying the most suitable locations. Thanks to the installation of a network of anemometers in the sea and along the coasts of the Adriatic, scientific data will be collected to allow the assessment of the possibility of investing in offshore wind energy in addition to the detection of the optimal technical solutions to exploit wind energy (from the micro and mini wind turbines along the coast to the big offshore turbines). The project involves all the countries overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
