New map of the Mohorovicic discontinuity

The ESA (European Space Agency) has produced the first global map of the so-called Mohorovicic discontinuity, the surface that marks the boundary between the Earth's crust and mantle. The map, created thanks to the data provided by the ESA's gravity satellite GOCE, is the most accurate and extensive produced to date. According to the researchers, this is only the first step towards a deeper knowledge of the Earth's interior and its dynamics.
