The Grimsvoetn volcano

The volcano has started its eruptive activity again and has hurled a plume of dense white smoke 15 kilometres into the air. Last year Eyjafjallajokull, another Icelandic volcano, caused chaos in air traffic for over a month. It is said that if the eruption continues at the same rate, the ash cloud will reach Great Britain, France and Spain by Friday. Actually the situation does not appear critical and air traffic should not be affected; however, Icelandic authorities have designated a no fly zone of 120 nautical miles (220 kilometres) around the volcano, a standard procedure when these natural phenomena occur.
