The Earth and the rocks
Rocks move
The Earth’s surface is made up of rocks and for this reason it can be broken into big moving rocky blocks. The point where the big rocky blocks are broken, separated and can move towards different directions, is called fault. When they move, rock blocks do not break immediately, but they slowly de-shape and then break all of a sudden. They behave like a pulled elastic bend: initially it stretches and, when released, it goes back to its original length. Instead, if we continue stretching it, it will break.Related topics
