National Tree Day
Today is National Tree Day, established by the Ministry of the Environment with the aim of promoting protection of the environment, reducing pollution and developing forests. This year, Legambiente is inaugurating the 25th edition of National Tree Day, by actively committing to the planting of new trees in parks, school playgrounds and in the least green areas of cities. The slogan accompanying Legambiente’s National Tree Day is “A tree for the climate – #ChangeClimateChange”, with the aim of promoting about 500 events all over Italy at which new trees will be symbolically planted, especially in areas of Italy worst hit by extreme events or damaged by fires, taking a message of collective commitment to mitigating the effects of the climate crisis, promoting biodiversity, protecting land from hydrogeological instability and improving air quality.
