Cop25: the climate conference will be held in Madrid

Spain will host the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP25, to be held from 2 to 13 December this year. After Chile’s withdrawal, the UN officially declared the handover to the Spanish capital. After the announcement of Chile’s withdrawal by the government, Madrid seems to have welcomed this possibility with great enthusiasm, as stated by Spanish President Sanchez: “Excellent news: Madrid with host the climate conference from 2 to 13 December. Spain is working to guarantee the organisation of COP25.” On his part, the Mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida, has defined COP25 as “a good opportunity to show the commitment of the city to the battle against pollution and demonstrates that we are ready to welcome its 25,000 participants.
