United Kingdom to host COP26
The next United Nations World Conference on Climate scheduled at the end of 2020 (COP26) will be held in the United Kingdom. Italy, which submitted its candidacy as the host country, has reached a partnership agreement with the United Kingdom: based on this agreement, the United Kingdom will chair COP 26 and will host the Summit, while Italy will organise the Pre-COP and other important preparatory events, including a significant initiative aiming to give voice to the expectations of young people (Youth event).
The 2020 summit should be one of the most vital events with regard to fighting climate change: in September 2019, over 200 countries from all over the world will gather in New York under the aegis of the United Nations to decide whether or not to change the goals set for 2030 regarding limitation of emissions and energy transition. COP26, therefore, is set to become a tangible occasion for discussing which measures to adopt in the immediate future.
