Projects to restock species

The restocking of extinct species is one of the strategies that have been implemented in the attempt to protect and reconstruct biodiversity. This is of course a “desperate remedy” technique, to be used in some specific cases, when conservative measures have been taken too late to save an endangered species and the possibility of a natural restocking is extremely low.
Restocking is always a very difficult operation and can be successful only if the causes that made the species disappear from the area in the first place have been removed.
