Hydrogen from biomass

Hydrogen is an energy carrier that allows to generate energy in an environmentally sustainable way. However hydrogen is only present in very small quantities in the atmosphere. Therefore it is necessary to produce it by conversion processes, starting from specific sources. One of the most interesting methods, especially thanks to the renewable nature of the raw material, is biomass gasification, through which it is possible to produce hydrogen or gases rich in hydrogen. At the moment there is no commercial process for the gasification of the biomass. There is, however, a series of pilot plants, that could be used in the future to produce hydrogen from biomass at industrial level.
