Water as a percentage

Only 3% of total water reserves is made up of fresh water, and only 30% of it can be found in liquid state. 98% of water in liquid state is underground and can only be partially reached. Oceans and seas, even if containing an excessively high concentration of salts to be used in most cases, are essential for man’s survival as an essential source of food (many poor populations have fish as their main or only staple), important minerals and elements (such as salt, or better sodium chloride) and energy, as well as a way of trading and a base for towns and tourism.
