Amphibians in a cave

Proteus is an amphibian of white-yellowish or light pink colour. This animal has no pigmentation as he lives in total darkness and spends his life in underground caves. This amphibian is also blind and his eyes are covered by the skin. He is first a larva in the water, but then does not loose his branchiae when the lungs are developed. In this way he can breathe both under the water and in the air according to his needs (let us remember that the underground environment can be temporarily flooded or being permanently occupied by a river).
