Weather over the Mediterranean Sea
The weather in the Mediterranean areas is generally associated with fair weather in summer (except occasional formation of storms) and rather uncertain weather in winter. In any case the changes in the weather in our regions are tied to the presence and the behaviour of the Azores anticyclone. In summer, bad weather fronts form in the North and Central European latitudes and move eastwards guaranteeing fair weather in our regions thanks to the influence of the Azores anticyclone which, in a certain sense keeps the bad weather away, pushing it away towards the NE.
In winter instead, the Azores anticyclone moves South and bad weather fronts cross the Mediterranean basin, giving rise to bad weather also in our regions.
